Eli Hastings

A different kind of editor. A different kind of healing.

I aM…

a privileged cis white Amerikan male. Author, psychotherapist, seeker, complex trauma survivor. I am an anti-racist, sex, queer, and kink-positive activist. I am no longer a son to a father. I am a father. I am a wayward dreamer. I am a husband. I am an ex-husband. At the center of my life is my shockingly grown up teenaged son. I believe in revolution in most conceivable ways. I feel too much for my own good, and enough to know how to hold others’ trauma and joy and grief. Creative writing and complex trauma bound me up in their weirdness and realness, and the spiritual questions that came after. Woven into a wild, terrifying, sometimes sublime ride.

Join Me?

I have worked in creative writing and editing in higher education, juvenile detentions, psychiatric hospitals, homeless and domestic violence shelters, private writing centers, coffee shops, and mental health agencies.  The process—or ceremony—of creative writing and revision, sharing and celebration, was the only container that could hold the vastness of our trauma, joy, and grief.  I believe stories, and their telling, save our lives.  It saved mine.  If you need it like I do, or even if you are just curious, I’ll meet you wherever you are.

You’ve got a story to tell!

Come chop it up with me for free for half an hour to see if we’d be a good match for one of my services — what is there to lose? I am pretty generous with any wisdom I might have. We can meet in-person or pixelated (preference for in person).
